1 DO WINGNUT WORDS SHOW THEY EVOLVED BRAINS?11!!  Sat, Apr 13, 2013 10:54:13am

I wonder if this is how the Taliban got it’s start?

The linked article is fun reading.

I’d never heard of the Ron Paul Curriculum. It would help to know what’s in that. Also it doesn’t say what Thomas Woods and Gary North have to do with that curriculum. So this is very one off.

re: #1 #CPAC: I Have A Short Mingle Stick.THANKS OBAMA.

Basically Ron Paul is developing a curriculum for home schoolers, and he’s put Gary North, one of the US’s biggest Christian Reconstructionist leaders in charge of it. Gary backs stoning gay people just for starters.

Is there a single accurate statement in this post? You got this from leftist Ed Brayton.

Woods isn’t even remotely involved in the neo-Confederate movement. No one who knows a thing about him would say such a ridiculous thing. In what conceivable sense is he a “leading member”? This one article you’re citing is from 17 years ago. Woods has only been a libertarian for the past 12. So it makes no sense to cite this.

Let’s see. Woods’ books have been published by Columbia University Press, Basic Books, Random House, and other top publishers. They’ve been translated into 12 languages. The Journal of American History, the top journal in the field, says, “Well written, well researched, and the thesis put forth is well argued. Woods has opened up an area of historical analysis that should invite further study.”

Did you forget to mention that?

In 2007, Woods won a $50,000 book prize. His work has been praised by the American Historical Review, Journal of the Historical Society, Journal of American History, Journal of American Studies, Choice, and scores of others.

So you might not agree with him (although you know so little about him that I doubt you know what he actually thinks), but at least be reasonable. He has plenty of credentials and is hardly a “wingnut.”

Nonsense. If Thomas Woods is not a neo-Confederate, nobody is. See: Christendom’s Last Stand, by Thomas E. Woods Jr.

Southerners have had too many strange philosophies shoved down their throats already to go quietly in the face of this one. As former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan explained, speaking not of Southerners in particular but of his supporters in general: “We love the old republic, and when we hear phrases like ‘New World Order,’ we release the safety catches on our revolvers.” Make no mistake: the persecutors of the South hate her today for the same masons they hated her in 1860. An 1868 article in the pro-South periodical The Land We Love summed them up quite well:

“Her conservatism, her love of the Constitution; her attachment to the old usages of society, her devotion to principles, her faith in Bible truth — all these involved her in a long and bloody war with that radicalism which seeks to overthrow all that is venerable, respectable and of good repute.”

So the War Between the States, far from a conflict over mere material interests, was for the South a struggle against an atheistic individualism and an unrelenting rationalism in politics and religion, in favor of a Christian understanding of authority, social order and theology itself. The intelligent Left knows this, and even the incurably stupid, like Carol Moseley-Braun, must at least sense it. For all their ignorant blather about slavery and civil rights, what truly enrages most liberals about the Confederate Battle Flag is its message of defiance. They see in it the remnants of a traditional society determined to resist cultural and political homogenization, and refusing to be steamrolled by the forces of progress.

I have been a Northerner for my entire 24 years. But when we reflect on what was really at stake in the “late unpleasantness,” we can join with Alexander Stephens in observing that “the cause of the South is the cause of us all.”

That’s what Woods wrote, and has tried to erase from the Internet. More info here: | Ron Paul Curriculum Launched by Reconstructionist Gary North and Neo-Confederate Thomas Woods.

More — at the 2010 CPAC, Woods hosted the following event:

Birthers on Stage at CPAC

“When All Else Fails: Nullification & State Resistance to Federal Tyranny”
Delaware Ballroom
Sponsored by Campaign for Liberty (1 hour)
Speaker: Dr. Thomas E. Woods

The neo-Confederate agenda could not possibly be more obvious.

“We love the old republic, and when we hear phrases like ‘New World Order,’ we release the safety catches on our revolvers.”

That’s a paraphrase of Goering paraphrasing an old proto-nazi drama of the Weimar era:

When I hear the word ‘culture’ I remove the safety from my browning”.

“Wenn ich Kultur höre … entsichere ich meinen Browning!”

See !!1! I’m not a Neo-Confederate—more like a Neo-Nazi !!
